A slow growing, deciduous round headed tree with large, pinnate leaves. Grows in most soils, in sun or light shade. This is a more compact tree than other forms, growing to around 4m tall after ten years. Produces walnuts at an early age (year 3 approximately).
A deciduous shrub with dusky green leaves which become purple by summer. Height 50cm. Masses of white, tubular flowers which are flushed pink at their bases are borne in May and June, and often again in autumn. Grows in most soils in sun or part shade.
